Ludwig Göransson composed the score for the film, after doing so for Nolan’s previous film, Tenet. Göransson’s score was featured in a trailer for the film on May 8, 2023. It was also featured in the Universal Pictures exclusive five-minute Opening Look on July 13.

Nolan had advised him to use the violin for Oppenheimer’s central theme in the film, with Göransson remarking that he had felt that it could go from “the most romantic, beautiful tone in a split second to neurotic and heart wrenching, horror sounds”.
